THE 11th ANNUAL SUMMERSONG

The 7th annual Summersong Music Camp was yet another amazing event, and a stupendous leap in terms of fun and quality, just when I thought it couldn't get any better. The students turned in some phenomenal performances and songs, and I got to play bass a lot. As always there were a lot of laughs, midnight nude swimming in the lake, late night jams and the stimulating atmosphere of music, generosity and love.
High points for me were
a) playing bass in the band two nights in a row, with the exceptional Kerry Rose (guitar), Karl Farren (guitar), Steve Nugent (percussion) and a battery of Steve's percussion students - we got into some monstrous grooves on All Along The Watchtower and other rock classics;
b) playing Purple Haze in Kerry's guitar orchestra;
c) the wonderful sound delivered by my two choirs singing Total Praise, Nobody's Fault, Amen Alleluia and Bryant Jones' Thank You Lord;
d) the Men Of Summer, my male chorus singing Been In The Storm Too Long.
Thanks also to Tal, Shelly, Luciano, Terri, Andrea, Jan, Tash and Clark for your inspiration, and thanks always to the Minister of Fun Alison and her team: Beth, Ellie, thanks to Dot, all the tutors, and special thanks to Kristina for her sterling companionship and sense of humour.
